So i was given keys to the spare or guest room in a place by the hosts. I stayed there for some days then once i ran into a host and i told them i was walking out and that host told me okay please remove the bed sheets and put them in the washing machine. She then walked out literally. My question is could i actually go back. I mean i have been missing from there since days now and they know i was supposed to be there and they never ever asked for the keys back. I could just get right back in right? Isn't it rude to just walk out and still have keys and sort of reject by not going back there.. Thanks.

This is a very strange situation. Why did you have to 'run into a host' if you wanted to leave - why didn't you go and find them and tell them in a normal way?

I don't understand why you say 'I was walking out' but then 'She then walked out'. Who is 'she'? From the way the sentence is written it sounds as if the host walked out.

Please make the situation clear.

"Could I actually go back?"  It doesn't sound like you should based on what you've written above.  Use common courtesy and tell your host you're staying elsewhere and then handover the keys.  I'm sure the host would like to book the room to other guests.

It sounds an odd situation. I have lots of people coming and going here, using keys I give them, because my spare room is often used by students or others needing a room temporarily, and the bookings are handled by an agency. Never once has anyone said "I am walking out," and I can't understand the circumstances. Did you have some sort of disagreement or complaint? Why did you not discuss leaving in a rational manner? Of course you need to return the keys when you leave. Are you now suggesting moving back in? Please tell us more about the situation, and we might have more of an idea about whether or not you were "rude".

Even if you choose not to continue your stay, it would be best if you returned the keys.
