I'm thinking of giving gift wrapping as a gift?

Question

Trying to do my part to save Mother earth, I want to give recycled gift wrapping as a gift. Should I bother wrapping it? If I wrap it, how will the recipient know where the wrapping ends and the gift begins? If I don't wrap it, how will the recipient know that the wrapping is the gift?

Don't wrap it, that defeats the purpose of recycling it in the first place. If you do, you could wrap it in a whole other design of wrap. Just tell them, this is your gift and explain it to them, or else they may be confused on why you think gift wrapping is a good gift.

Have you considered using the Sunday funnies as wrapping paper? That is a unique way to recycle. It's colorful and it will look like a present.



Also- if the wrapping paper you intend to use is in good condition, you may still be able to use it. Cut off the ends that are worn or show evidence of tape. If you don't have enough paper to wrap your gift, you may want to use tissue paper or the funnies.



My husband doesn't like to wrap gifts. His idea of wrapping is to put my gifts into a paper grocery bad and staple the bag shut. He is willing to draw designs on the bag to make it look festive. He was very serious about that. I bought some "gift" bags for him to use. We recycle them all the time- they go back and forth between us and friends. No one cares. ;0

Gift wrap isn't an appropriate gift unless 1) it's VERY nice gift wrap; and 2) you know the person well enough to KNOW they'll really love it. It doesn't matter whether it's recycled or not. Think stationery; it's only a good gift if it's very high quality and you know the person will love using it.

if you mean by recycled wrapping paper - last years second hand crumpled paper then that will send the message that you are a skinflint too mean to go get a proper pressie (and better not to give a present at all rather than that)



if you really want to sent the message that recycling is cool however then why not make a decent greetings card made out of select bits from pre existing cards instead? at least that would show some thought and imagination



and regarding a present - why not get some ecofriendly perfume or aftershave or some such?

Your question made me laugh, about 'wrapping it and how will the recipient know then the wrapping ends'. That was funny. Sorry, but seriously, just tie a ribbon around the wrapping paper and you're set to go. Good idea.

Talk about a cheapskate. Re-gifting something you have received is really inconsiderate.



If you are truly trying to recycle, then just give people the wrapping paper - any people, not the ones you are expected to give new, thoughtful gifts to.

Attach a nice note and dont wrap it.... NOW WHY WOULD YOU GIVE GIFT WRAP AS A GIFT???!!!..... wait if it is something unique yea then that is cool.



You can also put it in a tube is it is that type of gift wrap.
