How should you choose a maid of honor?

Obviously, it should be someone you love and trust. The maid of honor has many responsibilities; if you have two friends and one is more responsible than the other, go with the responsible one! Or let them share the title & have two maids of honor. Of course, there's nothing saying that you have to have a maid of honor; I know of brides whose best friends were guys, so they had a "man of honor" or "person of honor." Bottom line: it's your day! Do what you want.

i agree with cambria ... some others mentioned picking the friend who would be hurt the most if not picked , but you've got to keep your feelings in mind too ....not just base your pick on the woman who throws the biggest tantrum cuz she feels left out thats not the kind of friend your gonna need on your big day i really liked the idea of 2 personally i felt a lot of pressure when my sister asked me 2 b her maid of honor , so ask the two most important to you how they'ed feel sharing the title, if they really care & love you they'll set aside any feelings of self importance to help make your day perfect! good luck! congrats!
