Speak to them in private. A person in charge doesn't appreciate being undermined in front of the people they're in charge of (unless, of course, you want to undermine them!:). Be very polite, but firm, and back your reasons. The traditional argument paper form could help here:

1. State problem/solution

2. Reasoning for solution/Reasoning for it being a problem

3. Counter any responses you may expect/Interpret why the current solution is being used, but say why that's wrong

4. Sum up

Of course, a conversation is different than a paper. . .

Tactfully. You should write a report outlining why you think that a decision was wrong and offer information supporting your arguments.

You might want to read up on assertive behavour such as "When I Say No, I Feel Guilty" by M.J.Smith and "Asserting Yourself: A Practical Guide for Positive Change" by S.A. Bower and G.H. Bower.

that's the most hardest thing to do but for it you have to win the sympathies first from Boss then you should find the best time when your boss is in relax mode may be in lunch time or the time he/she is alone in office & an mode of talk then just give him a hint about the meter "thats all I use to do but its depend on the natur of your duty"
