Question:
Was I out of line? Why or why not?

On myyearbook.com (if you don't know what it is, its a website where you get loads of friends that you don't know) I recieved an IM that said Blow me? I replied "No, I'm not attracted to cocky tools that have small penises." Was I out of line? When I told my friend she said I was I think he deserved it though.

You were totally justified in your response. Some misogynistic little cretin treated you with a total lack of respect and you put them in their place.

Sorry to the ulta-feminists, but I'm an old fashioned type of guy, I believe a man should treat women with respect at all times. And crass sexual remarks to strangers doesn't qualify as treating with respect. So if they're gonna be a jerk, I see no harm in giving them abuse in return.

I suspect in British English that is somewhat poty-mouth, right? I don't think you were out of line, however, I think you lowered yourself several steps below being a lady, and handling this in a mature fashion. Pretty much coming across as a hoe as they say in the USA sometimes, in not very polite conversation.

Ignoring and blocking seems like it would have been the proper way to go. I might note also that if you call complete strangers "friends" you are in for a world of trouble, honey

You weren't "out of line" per se, but you gave him EXACTLY what he was looking for - attention.

Jeeze...you used the words "cocky" AND "penis" in the same sentence. Some adolescent tools would interpret that as flirting!!!!!

Grow up and ignore next time.

Not at all. If you don't know the person and they have the audacity to send you a message with something perverse like that, you have every right to come back at them how you please. They take the chance by IMing you that you're not a crazy pycho b***c who won't creep their page and leave nasty messages everywhere.

If they reached out to you and had the balls to do THAT, then you have every right to defend yourself.

Tell your friend "yeah, this guy sounds perfect -wanna get his name so he can IM YOU all this dirty stuff!!!"

You were not out of line, but I would totally look at BBG's answer, she hit the nail on the head.

This person should be ignored and that is all. Anything more brings you down to his level.

Your friend that "you" were out of line? So, I guess she thought it was completely okay for that guy to talk to you that way? She really, really needs to think about that.
