What would you say on a thank you note to those who attended a 25-year wedding anniversary party and brought gifts. The same note would be sent to everyone. Attendees were mostly family members and very close friends only. Heartfelt, but not too mushy... it wasn't a formal party.

Thank you for your suggestions!

If you're sending the same note to everybody there's really little point in doing it at all. A good thank you note should identify the gift and say why you liked it or how you used it, or ANYthing to make it obvious that that it's not "just" a generic one-size-fits-all note.

My dear friends and family, thank you so much for helping me celebrate my anniversary, and celebrating every day of those twenty-five years! Cheers! Love, Me.

Proper etiquette requires that the thank you notes be written individually rather than mass produced.

Thus, each note should state the giver's name, mention the gift specifically, and include a sentence or two of why the gift is appreciated or meaningful.

"Dear Aunt Grace, Thank you for the fuzzy red slippers. I guess you know how cold my feet get all winter! I can't believe you remembered that red is my favorite color. I will think of you all winter every time I slide my feet into my cozy new slippers. I love them! Thanks again, (your name here)"
