I think, actually, that the question needs to be:



Why are people so stubborn in accepting the FACT that they are born this way?



We have clear cut GENETIC proof that being homosexual is GENETIC PREDISPOSITION, ie, one is predisposed to becomming gay/lesbian.



It is not a choice.



BUT TO PUT ALL OF THAT ASIDE. One also has to look at how many people in this world and country are CHRISTIAN. Because the VAST MAJORITY are christian, and even some gays and lesbians are christian, there will never become a generally accepted social standard tha allows these types of people to become accepted.



The hatred will remain. The prejudice will remain. Because, frankly, the christian religion PREACHES such hate.

People do accept that homosexuals do not choose their sexual orientation. Some people do not. Try not to generalize because you'll cut yourself short. If you are or feel badly for someone who is homosexual and struggles with this, embrace that the world is becoming more accepting. I have homosexual friends and they're great people. Otherwise, they would not be a friend of mine.

For those people who do not accept that homesexuality is not a choice but a biological certainty are ignorant and uneducated. For example, did you know some women are born with testes and some men are born with ovaries (I believe, or something else like this). Why are some men feminine and some hairy, big, strong, and aggressive? Testosterone. Why are some women aggressive? Testosterone and less estrogen (the female hormone). We are born with these hormones and cannot interrupt them without taking supplements or disturbing sleep patterns. These hormones are responsible for behavior and the fact that some are born with too much or too little can determine their attitudes and the way the view the world, including the same and opposite sex.

What I find funny about some of the answers I always see to a question like this is that people say, "prejudice outweighs science" with nothing to back it up. I did one of my thesis in college on this very subject and the fact of the matter remains that there IS NO SCIENTIFIC proof that people are born homosexual. So show me scientific studies that definitely show people are born (not with a predisposition - but BORN GAY) and I'll reconsider my belief system.
