Swearing would become more common as traditional taboos are broken down, but the key appeared to be knowing when such language was appropriate and when to turn to blind eye.

swearing in front of senior staff or customers should be seriously discouraged or banned, but in other circumstances it helped foster solidarity among employees and express frustration, stress or other feelings.

"Employees use swearing on a continuous basis, but not necessarily in a negative, abusive manner," said Baruch, who works in the university's business school in Norwic

i firmly disagree. i find cursing disgusting, rude and unprofessional. whenever people curse i think "u cant think of a better way to express yourself?" in fact, i feel upset and that when people curse their bad mood rubs off on me. instead of encouraging cursing there should be a 5 minutes destress break where u walk away from ur desk and destress before going back to the problem.

This must be the topic of the day ! it was on the morning show! LOL

and i do think it's correct to a point!

i normally am very concious of what i say and i try not to swear to much!

however if i'm frustrated like the other day and say f this crap humans started to scoicalize with me! weird!

but it does releive a bit of stress when you let it out!

I found that rather amusing. While I can understand the idea of swearing at work being seen as just being human, and therefore making one seem down-to-earth and less "fake" or "stuffy", I can't see regular swearing being a great idea in many industries.

No, you can have a conversation without swearing. Only a cretin or a half wit resorts to swearing and believe me I am one. If you get pissed, even then your resorting to the lowest denominator. Not acceptable.

i once overheard the editor of a small town newspaper comment on people who think they need to swear...she said, "people who use cuss words don't have enough intelligence to think of an appropriate word to use, so they resort to what their brain knows best..." it is forever stuck in my brain...when i hear swearing, it brings back the intelligence comment...i'd rather not be known as an idiot...sorry, i just had to share what some people think of those who swear...
