Then reach into the glove box and pull out a sign and hang it on their mirror. Old people do this too. I mean if they can jump out of a Tahoe and skip into a store and hide the sign in the glove box whats with this crap ?What would stop this abuse?

We are best not to judge others' medical conditions. Someone may have serious heart or lung problems, musculature problems or even neurological problems that has earned them the right to that parking permit.
The requirements for obtaining the handicapped parking permit vary from state to state, but all states require some sort of medical professional to certify that the driver is handicapped according to strict legaal definitions.

You know, I completely understand where you are coming from.
That said, my mom had breast cancer. She has a hanicapped placard (sp?) that she uses. As someone else has mentioned, she does not show any phyical ailments out of pride. She gets winded very easily. She does keep the sign in the glove box or her purse because it is a law that you cannot drive with the sign on your mirror---blocks your view. When she is going somewhere with me (perfectly healthy), I am just waiting for someone to say something about me using a handicapped sign in my car. It is a reminder to me everytime I would pull into a parking spot that my mom is still living. At least she is here to even use the sign!!!
I think what ticks me off even more is seeing people pull into a handicapped spot that do not even have a sign or license plate!!! My mom, being the spit-fire she is, has called to report these kinds of offenders because they are taking away spots that she could use. If someone went to the trouble of getting one of those signs and they don't look like they need it, what can you do? Would you ask the person if they are handicapped???? I know better.....

Ya know, I run in to a lot of people who tell me pretty much the same thing. It pisses me off royally. There are many disabilities and handicaps which you can NOT see, like congestive heart failure (which causes a person to retain LOTS of fluid and often look obese). My mother has RSD, a debilitating disease that is excruciatingly painful. You can't tell. She tries her best never to limp out of pride. However, after walking more than the length of a city block she is in so much pain that NO pain reliever helps her at all. It isn't abuse. There are serious disabilities that you CAN NOT SEE but are actually there. Just because a person has such a condition and an SUV does NOT mean there is a CURE either.

I once had an extremely large woman verbally accost me for parking in "her" spot in front of the elementary school while we were both waiting to pick up our Kindergartners! We live in a smaller-sized town. There were no lines on the pavement, only a sign...she parked next to me and I was parked next to the sign (not directly in front of it). She made me back up and pull over farther so she could pull into "her" spot. Then she sat in her car and waited for her daughters to come out of school. She didn't even get out of her car after she got out to yell at me. She didn't need to be in that handicapped spot because she never left her car (except to yell at me, of course). It was ridiculous! She threatened to call the police on me, and I know she called the police on other moms. Incredibly rude individual! Apparently, because she had the sign on her mirror, that gave her the right to abuse everybody. I started calling her "the big fat lady" and everyone knew who I meant; I'm not against fat people as I am overweight, but this woman was just a blight on society. I guess she got her just-desserts for abusing her fellow moms...she died of a stroke 2 years later. Unfortunately for her twin daughters, I didn't donate to a cause for them because this woman was a menace to society and had made little friends exploiting her supposed handicap. I feel bad about them being without their mom but what goes around comes around. Since then, I have been much more aware of people abusing the handicap-parking privelege. It's not worth getting into a fist-fight over.

Disabled people do not necessarily look disabled. There are many reason why your Dr. applies to the Govt. on your behalf for the permit. I get the feeling that your more upset that a large person is driving a $40,000.00 SUV. By the way, what do you drive?

Weight doesn't matter here. People who are not handicapped, and pull into a handicapped parking spot are doing something wrong, unless it is for a very good reason, like they're driving a pregnant woman to have her baby, or something like that. Otherwise, I can't justify them, no matter how much they weigh.

OK, if you're really handicapped then I wouldn't care. But if you're just fat and lazy, you should get the furthest parking and walk your lazy *** into the store and maybe you would work some of it off. Fat is NOT a disability

Never juge people before analysing the reason. I do not defend Wrong actions but what if this person have a heart desease, or bone cancer or whatever desease that makes him unable to walk not necessary that he is handicapped.
Do not be judgy. Do not juge creatures and you will not be juged by the the creator. God I mean.

Who cares, I'd rather park far away so I can get the extra exercise.
Those people are going to die of premature death from diabetes, heart disease, hypertention.
So don't worry about it,let them get fat and unhealthy. They will pass away faster that way.

LMAO@Johhny_B!!!! That was great, I just chuckled out loud. Thanks, I really needed a good laugh tonight.
But anyway, to the poster, don't worry about it, especially if you aren't disabled/handicapped. I mean, don't stress yourself out over stupid stuff like this, it will only turn your hair gray, and give you wrinkles.

it could be that these "fat" people have physical ailiments. but what could stop that abuse would be better judging them if they are impaired or not.
