Question:
TROLL question - so sick of it?

What can be done about a person with multiple Yahoo! identities asking the same trolling questions REPEATEDLY?

The question: "How do I stop people telling me I stink?" comes up several times every day. The asker uses the identities "DONUT" and "Tasha" and "Victoria" to name a few. Of course, it's the same person asking. We all know it is. Reporting doesn't work because this person simply comes back with yet another identity.

I try to be a forgiving and easy-to-get-along-with person but my patience is at an END here. I tell myself....let it go - it's not a big deal. But seriously, what is wrong with someone who repeatedly asks moronic, fake, and (an attempt at) shocking questions, just to get a rise out of people? What causes people to troll? Is it a personality defect? Is it the lack of a meaningful life? Or is it just plain pathetic-ness?

I don't want to come off here as the "Yahoo! police" but, so many of us put a lot of effort and care into our questions and answers. Yahoo! is a community and those of us who use it appropriately deserve to be free from idiots like this. What to do?

ps. I'm posting this in the "Etiquette" category as well as the Yahoo! Answers category because that's where this troll posts his/her questions.

Just report it. That's all you can do. I don't understand the point, either, unless it's the only way to get attention and they aren't remotely creative enough to come up with new things. It's pretty juvenile. It's like the guy who posts all the question asking for detailed descriptions of how your outfit got stained or if you're wearing boots, and the girl who asks innumerable questions surrounding defecation habits.

The guidelines of Y!A do state (at least in the violation notices I am wont to get) that they want "meaningful" questions and answers. I see nothing meaningful in even the most sincere fart query, let alone a repetitive post about hydrophobia.

ADDED:

By the way, she is obsessed with her little question because she gets very upset when you point out the troll when she has people believing her and she blocks you (to which I am impervious). I suppose she thinks it removes your answer, but it doesn't. You just have to be sure to report before reply.

Just keep reporting it. Of all troll behaviors, repeating the same stupid question annoys me the most. Others can say I don't have a life because that bothers me, but whatever, that's their opinion. Evidently it is a violation of Yahoo!Answers to repeatedly ask the same quesyion, so this question should get deleted every time it is asked. I wish Yahoo! would just go ahead and block this silly troll's IP address, I know they do that sometimes.

The best thing to do is ignore it, In my opinion who has the sadder life the one who spends all day posting the same question or the one who spends all day complaining about the one who keeps posting the same question I would say it was equal, Theres no point in getting all angry about it the world is full of weirdos if we get rid of him there will be another weirdo right after him to take his place as the new resident weirdo. If everyone ignored him he will get bored and find some other people to annoy but he probably loves seeing messages like this posted as he knows whatever hes doing is working

I don't think we can ever get away from all the trolls, haters and just plain goof balls while we're on the Web and it's one of those things we just have to put up with. One of my big peeves is some web sites that allow any kind of insane, cruel, stupid, hateful garbage in their comment section. A certain popular video sharing site comes to mind. I can get upset, nauseous and just plain angry at some things I read in comments, on forums, etc.practically anywhere it's possible for someone to type something. We just have to remind ourselves that the good outweighs the bad and I thoroughly enjoy the good aspects.

I agree with you but it's like trying to turn back time! All you can do is ignore it and keep giving the same time and effort to people who deserve it. The troll is spending their precious life submitting pointless questions online instead of doing anything even vaguely useful; surely that's it's own punishment!

Why does it bother you THIS much? There are trol questions everywhere on Yahoo! Answers - it's an open community forum so this will keep happening. Don't put so much energy into it that it allows you to be stressed even in your time away from Y!A , because that's what it seems like you are experiencing. Just get over it, you have no control over it.

And to answer your question "What causes people to troll" - your reaction lol

Trolls, in real life or online, all seek the same thing; a reaction. That is their food and drink. When you ignore them, you ruin their fun and eventually, it stops. There is a plethora of trolls on this site, you cannot stress over every single one, just ignore and move on.

Yeah, she's been reported a million times, but Yahoo can't block everyone. If people would just STOP answering her, she might give up.

The only thing that you can do is report the question when you see it. I've seen this same question on here many times myself. I stop answering it.
