Question:
Dart broke my friends glass door? Help please!?
2014-12-17 20:58:07 UTC
I was staying over at my friends and I was playing darts while everyone else was in the backround. And while I was about to throw it, one of the girls made a loud sound and it frightened me and i accidently threw the dart into the glass door (that was very close to the dart board). I was so shocked and it didn't feel like it was real.. I felt so bad and the girls were making me feel bad about it and I was so EMBARRASED :( I shattered the glass but it didnt completely fall, but they have booked an appointment with a glass repair man. The mum is paying for it and I feel so bad about the incident and I don't know how to tell my mum.. I'm only 13 and I was surprised that I threw the dart the hard to break the glass... I don't want my mum to yell at me or anything so should I just not say anything and leave it or what? Please help!

Best you can do is be honest with your Mum because an incident like this will come out eventually, so better that she hear it from you as opposed to your friends or your friend's mother. Given you feel bad about the situation, perhaps send an apology letter and a gesture of say $20.00 to contribute to the glass repair. Ultimately you cannot change what has happened but you can control your reaction.

You need to pay for the damage, don't you? Or at least offer. They may have some insurance in place that will cover it, or it possibly won't cost so much that they want to use the insurance. Don't worry, accidents happen, but tell your mum, ask her to discuss it with the other mum, and they will decide what's best to do.

it wouldn't have taken much for a dart to break a large panel of glass, very small impact point would shatter the glass easily. poor positioning of a dart board to be honest.

does this other woman know your mum? if yes, she will most likely phone her and inform her of what happened. so tell her before she does, or she might have already told her and waiting for you to mention it.

if you think she will never find out, don't tell her.

Time to grow up and take responsibility for your actions.

Tell your mum. It will somehow get out at some point and you don't want mum to come ask you why you didn't tell her.

Tell your mother. What if the other mother calls her and tells her? It was an accident so the only thing you should feel guilty about is hiding it, not that it happened.

Calm yourself down. It was just an accident.
