People sound very young who have answered and probably blow off responsibility. Once you get out into the "real world" and have to support yourself, you will see that an average work week is 5-6 days. You made an obligation to your boss, keep it and go in three days in a row. You sound like you are young and should be able to handle it. When you have a job, it's time to grow up.

I think you should go into work. I assure you the inauguratin will be played over and over and over on all the news channels. But if you go into work today on a day that you weren't even scheduled, this will show your boss you are serious about your job. Later on, if they ever consider giving you a raise or a higher position, they will look back and see that you were willing to take on more hours and days when they really needed you. You also said your job is lenient, so I think you should go. When you get home, I promise, you will see the inauguration on! And if for some crazy reason you can't find it on TV, they stream it on CNN.COM. :)

Yes, I would go in to work so I could get PAID! Plus, if your boss sees that you're making that effort and that you come in to work when you say you will and sometimes you work a little extra, it'll look good for you in the future. (No matter which future job you have.)

as long as you get paid for working today, i would go in and work. if you're not gonna get paid for working today, then call in and make an excuse for not coming in.

if you don't want to go in and it doesn't effect your pay (or you can suck that up) and you won't get in trouble then by all means pull a sickie :]
