Question:
8 voicemails plus repeated emails sent to multiple email addresses, asking for free housing: too pushy?
?

I received 8 voicemails (at my office) and the following emails from a distant acquaintance who I haven't seen in 5 years.

They ask for free housing every year, and every year I tell them no.

Isn't this too much? (Yes, I should have answered sooner.)

Thanks.

Re: Re-transmission Re:Planning visit

Hi Sam --
I'm not sure you received the notes below. I've tried calling on your cell phone, but it says no calls are being received. I'm guessing you're traveling. Please let me know how to reach you.

Regards,
John

Hi Sam---

I got two hopefully better e-mail addresses today from Rich and Jeff. Could you respond today or tomorrow? I'll try calling you Monday morning if you're not able to respond by then.

Thanks,

John

Hi Sam --

We are planning a follow-up visit to your area to see friends who weren't available in January. We'll be driving up for 4 days in August and would be happy to invite you to lunch or dinner during that period. We're not sure whether at the end or beginning we'd be at the home of our friends, but we wondered if staying with you would be a possibility while we're in your area. We checked first with Jim and Sue, but they're preparing their apt. to put it on the market.
Sorry you couldn't join us for the retreat in Denver. I think we all thought it went pretty well.

Yours,
John

It's very pushy.

Send one very firm reply, saying that you're very busy and you're sorry, but you're unable to help them or meet them.

Suggest the names of a few reasonably-priced hotels in the area.

Say that it was nice to know them all those years ago, but you really aren't interested in staying in touch.

You know what's also pushy?

You spamming this question, that's what's pushy.
