Uh, insulting the people who give you your livelihood? NOT a wise policy.

If no one wanted pizza from your chain, you wouldn't have the job, would you?

Sometimes people are tired and simply want food brought to them; sometimes people specifically crave the pizza you make.

Not everyone has a car.

As for using the net, it's probably a good way to not get the order messed up (as sometimes happens -- we once got a large for the price of a medium, though, which was a lucky mess-up for us).

Plus you have a current menu, with all the prices, and know exactly what your total is before you actually order -- not true when one is at home calling in.

People who are hungry get cranky because of the hunger, and so complain when they have to wait. An hour and a half is a long time to be hungry -- and seems even longer to the hungry person.

But if you warned them, or the web warned them, of the time, they don't have the right to complain; they should have either canceled their order, or found something to snack on, or just bit it.

But the most important thing to remember is that people are paying for the pizza and service; they have that right, given the company offers pizza and service.

Should they be rude or unreasonable?

No.

But then, neither should you by writing rude things about the people who (indirectly) pay your salary.

I trust you aren't rude to them on the phone.

Yes, working with the public is a tough job, as there are a lot of rude and cranky people among them.

This is true for everyone who works with the public.

But not all customers are rude, right?

Most of the people wait for their pizza's without bugging you about it.

Business owners and management is more to blame. If Fridays are busy, managemet should hire more personell to meet service level.

The whole purpose of pizza delivery was for the customer's convenience. Implementing the ability to order online was also for the customer's convenience. It actually is to the advantage of the employees as well. Like how many times have you taken a phone order and had to ask the customer to repeat the order or their credit card number and then still got it wrong. That is just time wasted. The internet makes it faster and more accurate which to me spells EFFICIENCY and less aggrivation. In this day and age, busy working people like myself who are bogged down with work, children, school term papers, social life, among other things do not always have time to cook. So these processes like delivery and internet orders were created with the customer in mind to add convenience and build company profits. Seems like it's working but you're still unhappy.

If there is an improvement to be made you should make a suggestion to your boss. Perhaps your innovative thinking will land you a corporate job so that you don't have to deal with complaining customers anymore. And as for complaints about delivery time, if a business KNOWS they're slammed and KNOWS that delivery will take an hour and a half then they should not tell the customer 30 to 45 minutes. That sets a false expectation. If you let them know up front, then that gives them the CHOICE as to weather or not they will accept substandard service or call a different pizzaria. If they accept, there is no room to complain.

Just think if consumers were completely satisfied with whatever businesses "dished" out there would be no reason for competition among businesses. Competition is what keeps our (that's you included) prices low as consumers. Thank heavens for those b!tchy consumers.

It's all about communication in this world we live in. With communication comes knowledge, wisdom and understanding.

If people weren't "lazy," as you say, the whole pizza delivery business would go down the tubes and you wouldn't have a job.

I get what you're saying about complainers. I've had jobs where I've had to deal with angry people who would be able to accomplish much more toward getting things straightened out if they could make it less about venting and more about correcting the situation.

You also need to realize that people view what you do in an abstract manner. They don't picture a bunch of people working like mad to produce pizzas for hundreds of people at a time. They just think in terms of their order and how their order is late. I used to answer phones for a catalog company and some of the people who called in had no concept of my job. They didn't realize that I sat in front of a computer typing in orders that would be processed in a building fifty miles away in another town, or that I worked in one of a dozen phone centers each of them containing at least a hundred phone operators. Some of them actually thought that I would be personally packing their order, or that I would be able to just turn and shout over my shoulder to the warehouse guys and say, "Hey, I've got an order from Mr. Smith and he's been our customer for twenty years so put a rush on it."

On the other hand, I am a person who gets very cranky when I don't eat on time and I understand where their anger comes from. Sometimes my brain just says, "ME WANT FOOD NOW!" and anything or anyone that delays me getting my food is going to piss me off. And let's face it, the reason why people order food to be delivered is because they want it FAST.

What would really help on those websites is if a person could get an estimated wait time BEFORE they fork over their credit card number. As I recall when I've used Papa John's, you don't get that estimated delivery time until AFTER you've paid, and paid EXTRA for delivery. If I know ahead of time that it's going to take an hour and a half for my pizza to arrive, chances are I will get off my "lazy" butt, go to Papa Murphy's Take and Bake Pizza, get a pizza for HALF THE PRICE in about five minutes, and bake it myself.

Because this is the era of consumer bitching.

Used to it would give a company good feed back.

Now it allows people to use complaining as a means of getting stuff for free. They think, "maybe if I throw a fit I can get something out of this." We can thank Walmart for starting this as they let their customers get away with ANYTHING. Including but not limited to, punching a customer service manager... and getting a gift card afterwards, stealing from the store and letting them return that stolen stuff with no receipt, complain for a lower price.

The corporations are spoiling customers.. and the workers are helpless victims in this scenario. "The customer is always right" has gone overboard my friend.. judging from these responses it will only get worse.

People also say, "Why don't you get more people." They don't understand that management gets perks the less man hours they use up. If they hire more people corporate office will have a cow. So you have a manager trying to keep down hours as much as possible and few workers working a food rush.

If the customers don't like it, tell them to call CORPORATE or just don't use that pizza chain anymore. It's even worse when they complain but still come back to your place for more product.

Then take your business elsewhere peachy cat.

Let's say you buy a brand new car...to deliver pizzas...you'd expect that your new car would get you to your addresses and back to the store without problems, right? But you find that what a reasonable person (you) would expect is not happening - your brand new pizza delivery car quits between deliveries. Your mad...REALLY mad. You call up Hyundai or Mecedes or whomever and complain. They tell you that your car was built during a week when they had a lot of people out and new car orders coming in and they're sorry but things like this happen. Are you going to accept that? NO!! You buy something and you expect what's reasonable, it doesn't matter to you what day or week your car was built, you expect it to run regardless. You expect them to plan ahead for such things because there's a level of service and reliability that is inherent with buying a product.

It's the same thing with pizza delivery. I order a pizza from a place that delivers and I expect a certain level of service that's reasonable for that industry. It takes 15 minutes to put a pizza together and bake it. It takes 20 minutes to drive from the store to my house. I should get my pizza in 35 minutes whether it's Monday, Wednesday, or Friday. If my pizza store manager is competent, he or she will have additional help on hand to take care of business on Fridays. If they advertise delivery, that absolves me of being "too lazy to drive [my] happy a** out somewhere to get waited on or pick up something".

So, I hope this little exercise helped and since you're on the subject of people complaining and being lazy, quit griping. You took the job. If it offends your sensitivities, then find one that doesn't.

I think you need a sabbatical from your uh...chosen profession.

People don't necessarily use the internet to purchase products because they're lazy. I do it because I don't have the TIME to drive to PIZZA HUT or PAPA JOHN'S or DOMINOS and look for a parking space and stand in line. My time is more valuable that that.

However, I don't get rude with people on the phone unless they have an attitude and I'm betting dollars to donuts from your tone that you have a royal attitude.

Corporations spoiling customers? Hello? If the customer isn't treated right, the company is out of business and that means you're out of A JOB.

Consumers are paying more and more money for less and less service from people with no pride in their work, very little skill and sucky attitudes.

you work at pizza hut dont you? hm ok, lets see what do people order pizza's? It has everything to do with laziness, for one day out of my busy day after taking the kid here taking the kid there susie has ballet ryan has soccer, husband spilled cranberry on his white shirt at work, gotta drop off the dry cleaning..do all the laundry clean the house AND COOK DINNER? shoot let me be lazy on a friday nite. Or a special event kid wants pizza for his birthday party..im gunna order pizza, online is quicker so why not make my life 1000 times easier and just order it real quick. and i will call and complain when i have 20 hungry kids running around my house screaming "I WANT PIZZA". Sounds to me like you need a new job..because you are the one complaining.

Sure, I have a couple thoughts. You are providing a service that people are PAYING for and that ensures you get to WORK on Friday nights. Appreciate the business. Be courteous and respectful. The pizza isn't FREE to us lazy people who phone for you to take our order, make our food and bring it to us. We PAY for the service and expect that your management is ensuring that enough personnel is available so that you don't feel so frustrated taking our orders, making our food and delivering it to us. It is not unreasonable to expect to get what we pay for, including delivery within the specified time frame, although I hope people are not being rude with their complaints. Keep it in perspective. Happy Fridays to you!

Your customers are paying for you to take the order, make the food and deliver it. So what are you complaining about? Maybe it's because you are not getting much of the money your pizza restaurant makes. I bet the owner of the restaurant is not complaining about the amount of customers you have and how busy you are. This says to me that you are a low paid, overworked member of staff. Maybe you should stop whining to people on the net and go get yourself a better job. Or are you too lazy to go to college?

If you are then maybe you should complain to your manangement that your restaurant is badly run, resulting in long customer waiting times and customer complaints. Then they might get some more staff and a better system in place to help you.

I have always found it interesting that people have such little patience when they are out and about during times when most people are off from work and out and about as well. Stores and restaurants are going to be crowded on weekends, nights, and holidays... so the public should expect longer waiting times during these peek periods. Unfortunately, the attitudes shown by most customers and some of the responders to this question demonstrate how politeness, patience, and reason have been replaced by the "me first" attitude, or worse, the "i am more important than you" attitude. When people whine "you should get more workers" I recommend saying "you're right!" and then hand them an application. That shuts them right up.

As far as the one hour + wait for delivery, as long as you state this when the person is placing the order, if they choose to accept this and go through with the order, they should accept this as the terms. To continue to complain about terms that you disclosed and they agreed to is idiotic. I too believe that this customer is always right crap has created a culture of abuse and complaints in order to receive something for nothing. A word to the public: this behavior leads to higher prices, because guess what, companies are not going to take the financial hit, they will pass this on to you. Childish behavior, pouting, whining, cursing... would you want someone to treat you (or your children) the same way? Why demean someone for having a job/career in retail/food service? Is your life that empty that this is the only way to feel good about yourselves?

And it's never ever a good idea to anger those who have access to your food...

Heh.. if you don't have enough manpower to supply your customers need, don't make a living out of something that outworks you.

But nah, seriously, people take for granted they can ***** and yell and stuff. IS the kind of j3rks who don't know that extra complainings for food = extra spittings on their orders.

Cheer up man, think about all the free pizza you get!

People seem to think it's going to make some kind of difference. They think the customer is at the forefront of your mind at ALL TIMES, like your managers tell you. Ha. I know, nobody could possible have time for that... then they try to not tip you... whiny, complaining customers are an ugly thing. I mean, you try your hardest, but there's only so much you can do!

they are hungry, so right when they are already starving they order the pizza and then proceed to wait an hour and a half which makes people pissy

also, it is a pizza delivery SERVICE, that is what they are paying for...customers dont give hoot about how busy you are, all that they are concerned about is stuffing their food holes with 1000 grams of fat and feeding the kids goin bonkers before they burn down the house

customers have no souls, that is why they are so pissy

Just because someone wants a pizza one night doesn't mean they are lazy....they either just enjoy the pizza or want to take one night off from cooking. They have every right to complain because they are PAYING customers and they are the company's business.

Some people complain because they have sad, bitter little lives and complaining about pizza delivery (or whatever!) makes them feel powerful.

ur right but the cost of the food plus the delivery charge is what we think about..everything now is about convenience..we really don't think about stuff u mentioned..just about why it takes so long to get our order
?

It the job... so you get paid for...let them complaint. Take the complaint and find ways to make it faster a better... your manager will get calls for this if this is successfull and will promote you up in the latter.

You and or your company are offering a product or service for a fee. If the customer is not satisfied with your product or service they certainly have every right to complain and request that you satisfy their requests. That is the nature of business. If you haven't learned that lesson, I suspect it is high time you did.

If speedy delivery is advertized then do it or find yourself another job. Who are you to be making judgement on anything or anyone? You were hired to perform in a efficient manner. Keep your mouth shut and your mind on your job.
