I'm a new Master Mason and I need to attend a funeral tomorrow. I believe that there will be brethren there that I am yet to meet but would like too. I don't have a Masonic ring yet but do have a lapel pin that I was presented with after my 3rd, would it be tacky to wear this at a funeral service?

It can depend on where you are. In my jurisdiction it does specifically state that those Freemason who participate in the Masonic Service are not to wear any insignia on their lapels. Wearing a ring is fine however. If you are not participating in the Masonic Service you can wear anything you like, that appropriate for a funeral service.

This may be different in your jurisdiction however. If you plan to participate in the Service, check with one of the other more experienced Masons in that group when you get there. Most likely it would not be an issue.

Just follow the usual custom, nothing bright and flashy at a funeral. A small lapel pin is just fine
