Question:
The garbage man skipped my house for the second week in a row?

The garbage man did not pick up trash this week or last week... No idea why. Hesitant on contacting the city because they are NOT easy to deal with AT ALL. My trash is placed on the curb where it should be with everybody else's and contains only trash. No garden trash, hazardous trash, just your daily food scraps and yogurt cups. I pay $25/month for a 60gal trash container... It isn't fair that they won't take it.

They also don't pick up my recycling, and I think it's because it's full of concrete and other crap the construction guys stuffed in there. What should I do about it? I'm too pregnant/weak to get the concrete out of the bin anyhow. The construction guys, I have no clue who they are. We moved in three weeks ago.

Since you have only been there for three weeks and your trash has not been picked up for two of the three weeks, perhaps there is a problem with their book keeping and the trash men are not aware that you, the new tenants/owners, have paid for their trash to be picked up.

I would simply make a friendly phone call and ask if they could please check to see that your payment has been received for trash pick up at your new home, located at 25 Main Street. Or, go to the office carrying a smile and state that you just moved to 25 Main Street and are wondering how long it takes for your payment to be processed so your trash can be picked up.

In our town, we have the trucks that pick up the trash cans with "arms". Our rules are that the trash bin has to be curbside, facing in the correct direction while having a four foot space between the can and any other objects. If the rules are not observed, the trash men will not pick up our trash. Double check that you are doing our part for a safe and speedy trash pick up on collection day.

Contact the city. Ask them if there is anything wrong with the way you set out your garbage. You cannot store construction debris in a recycle bin though. Any decent construction company will throw away the work's garbage, at a certain cost on their own vehicles.

You need to call the waste management company. If it is the city that does your trash collection, then you need to call them. If it is a company, you need to call the company. If you have just moved in, call your realtor or landlord and ask them how to get this taken care of.

Regardless of how difficult it is to deal with the city, if the city is responsible for trash collection, then you need to contact them and have them provide the service for which you pay.

I don't think you're too weak to make a few phone calls though.

Did I offend you? Hey, use your mommy hormones to give them a bit of an attitude, just enough to make sure stuff gets done. It's really just being an adult, it's not being naughty or bad or rude, or anything.

- if you don't call and complain, then they won;t believe you if you try and short pay your bill - concrete is not acceptable recycling material. the "construction guys" need to have their own dumpster on site - just dump it on teh sidewalk
