Was your first job memorable?

How did you find your first job? Was it memorable? Was it miserable?

When I first graduated from college I was fortunate enough to work in a bank. It was a great opportunity for a fresh graduate student who was hired right after college.

I find mine so memorable and I was as so excited to report on my first day of work which happens to be our graduation rites.

So I preferred to report for work rather than attend my graduation day. I never forget that moment where all my classmates were attending the graduation ceremony, while I was on my first day of work in a bank.

But I didn't missed the graduation nights parties with friends and classmate. I will never forget that moment for I was the only one among the class graduate who didn't attend the graduation rites.

The fun and enjoyment still lingers on in my memories until now.

Would you share with us about yours?

i was a waiter at a buffet restaurant for my first job when i was 16. it was memorable for many reasons. i was finally making my own money, getting a chance to interact with the community, and even though no one will believe this, i lost my virginity at work with my manager. so, i indeed have GREAT memories of my 1st job.

My first job was at House of Fabrics (at at whoppin' $2.85/hr., sub-minimum wage even for 1985). I remember it well because it was the closest I'd ever come to having my head explode from job-related stress. During annual inventory, I was tasked with counting how many loops of fabric were on each of probably 1,000 bolts of fabric in the store. After 10 hours of this, I hit a snapping point, broke down in hysterical tears, and had to take a timeout in the warehouse.

I've been a lawyer for 13 years, and before that, worked in public relations. Interestingly, the stress of these job has never gotten under my skin like that fabric counting. Go figure.

My first job was as a florist shop assistant after school. I was FIRED after only 2-1/2 weeks, and she gave me no reason. My mother had to call her to ask what I had done wrong... after several attempts with no resolution, she asked, "Then WHY did you fire my daughter?" The answer was, "She didn't talk enough."

I remember that my father had "warned" me to keep quiet, since I was a rather "chatty" young girl. So I heeded his words, kept my mouth shut, and got fired for it! The shop owner was a bit on the nutsy side anyway.

So there you have it... my first job!

Have a polite day!
